McKenzie's Weatherford Earns Individual Crown, State Berth as Teams End Season

DECATURVILLE (September 29) — The McKenzie High School golf teams competed in Monday's Region 7A Golf Tournaments at Tennessee River Golf Club. Both teams ended their seasons with third-place finishes, but Lady Rebel Charli Weatherford earned the title of Individual Champion and a trip to the state tournament.
The Lady Rebels finished just 13 strokes behind region champion Scotts Hill. Weatherford claimed the solo crown with a 72.
The Rebels' third-place finish came after a playoff against Union City for second. The two teams were even after 18 holes and just three strokes behind champion team Wayne County. Ace Brown led McKenzie with a 75.
Weatherford will travel to east Tennessee for the TSSAA Class A State Championship on October 9-10 at The Sevierville Golf Club.
