McKenzie Elementary Hosts Disney Reading Night
From the Nov 4, 2025 e-Edition
The McKenzie Elementary School Library hosted a special, Disney-themed reading night for students Monday, October 27.
Students from McKenzie High School and Bethel University, plus teachers and principals from the McKenzie Special School District, dressed as familiar Disney characters to make the reading night a success.
“Community involvement is an important element of family reading nights,” said librarian Jill Wilson. She and computer teacher Jill Warren organize and facilitate reading night events throughout the year.
Upon entering through the library’s double doors, children were greeted with magic bands and autograph books and then had the opportunity to meet, take pictures and read with the Disney characters.
“It is our goal to instill the lifelong love of reading for our students and create happy memories for our children and families,” said Wilson.
The McKenzie Elementary School Library hosts family reading nights as opportunities for students to become better, stronger readers. Giving students extra time to check out books and take tests in Accelerated Reader, reading nights urge students to discover the joy of reading.
