MHS Golf off to Strong Start

McKENZIE (August 5, 8) — The McKenzie High School Golf teams began their season last week with a pair of matches at home at Carroll Lake Golf Club.

Monday, the girls won against Gleason while the boys defeated Huntingdon and Bradford.

The Lady Rebels earned a team score of 84 to defeat Gleason by 22 strokes. Charli Weatherford was the match medalist with a 34. Anna Claire Weatherford and Emma Smith each shot a 50, with one added to the team score.

The Rebels team score of 162 topped Huntingdon by 32 and Bradford by 37. Match medalist Ethan Bradberry’s 38 was added to Ace Brown’s 40, Carter Kee’s 41 and Nolan Fawcett’s 43.

Thursday, both teams fell to Westview despite each adding only a few strokes to their Monday scores.

The Lady Rebels totaled 89 to fall by three strokes, led by Charli Weatherford with a 38, followed by Anna Claire Weatherford’s 51.

The Rebels shot 164 to fall by 15 strokes. Bradberry led McKenzie with a 39, followed by Kee (40), Fawcett (41) and Caleb Burke (44).
