MHS Soccer Goes Unbeaten at Henry County Tournament

PARIS — The McKenzie High School Lady Rebels went unbeaten in three matches during the Henry County tournament Friday and Saturday, earning two wins and a tie.

McKenzie opened tournament play Friday night against Crockett County, battling to a 1-1 tie. Ellie Doede scored the Lady Rebels’ lone goal with an assist from Stephanie Padilla. Goalkeeper Alleigh Britt recorded four saves.

The Lady Rebels returned to the field Saturday morning and earned a 1-0 victory over McNairy County. Sophie Dameron provided the game-winning goal with an assist from Millie Brigham, while Alleigh Britt recorded three saves to help McKenzie secure the shutout.

McKenzie closed the tournament Saturday afternoon with its strongest offensive performance of the weekend, defeating West Creek 5-0.

Sophie Dameron led the Lady Rebels with two goals. Kaydynce Barksdale, Ava Hastings and Millie Brigham each added a goal. Brigham also recorded an assist, while Stephanie Padilla added an assist.

McKenzie finished the tournament with a 2-0-1 record and outscored its opponents 7-1 over the three matches.

The Lady Rebels return home Thursday, Sept. 17, to host Westview. The match begins at 5 p.m. at McKenzie High School.
