MHSAA Elects Officers, Honors Winston
From the Nov 5, 2024 e-Edition
McKENZIE (October 28) — The McKenzie High School Alumni Association met Monday in the high school theatre to elect new officers and reflect on the achievements of the past year.
Officers for 2024-25 are President Drew Beeler (Class of 2020), Vice President Betsy Hall Campbell (1973), Secretary Karen Cobb Moore (1984) and Treasurer Lauren Hickman (2007).
Other board members are Terry Howell (Class of 1969), Byran Rich (1973), Brad Camp (1983), Lesa Roberson Hutcherson (1988) and Cheryl Oglesby-Townes (1988).
Brian Winston (Class of 2003) was presented a plaque in appreciation for his service and dedication as the first president of the MHSAA in 2023-24.
It was an eventful start for the fledgling organization. In its first year, MHSAA recognized accomplished alumni, provided scholarships to current McKenzie students and contributed to other McKenzie school-related causes.
The feather in the alumni cap, though, was a very successful Homecoming weekend. MHSAA members participated in the Homecoming parade, and a “Decades Reunion” tailgate was held prior to and during the football game with an estimated 500 in attendance. Several classes held reunions during the weekend.
