McKenzie High Alumni Scholarships Presented
From the May 26, 2026 e-Edition
McKENZIE (May 8) — The McKenzie High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) announces its 2026 MHSAA scholarship recipients. All scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 each. This is the third year for MHSAA scholarships to be awarded, presented by MHSAA President Betsy Hall Campbell (MHS Class of 1973) and Treasurer Lauren Hickman (2007) during the McKenzie High School Awards Day Program on May 8.
The winners were selected by the MHSAA Scholarship Committee, based on scholastic achievement and community involvement. Applicants were required to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and ACT of 21, and to plan to continue their education at either a college or vocational school. The 2026 graduates receiving alumni scholarships this year are Brody Berryhill, Dylan Bomar and Tobey Brooks.
Also awarded by the MHSAA was the Marilynn Holland Putman (‘59) Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the family of Mrs. Putman, who was Salutatorian of the MHS Class of 1959 and died this past November. The MHSAA Committee thanks the Putman family for their generosity. The scholarship recipient this year is the Class of 2026 Salutatorian, Gracie Aird.
The MHSAA Committee thanks members of the McKenzie High Class of 1979 for their support in fully funding one of the $1000 scholarships in memory of their class sponsor and teacher Karen Webb Camp (‘60), who died in October of last year.
The MHSAA Committee congratulates those receiving the scholarships as well as the entire McKenzie High School Class of 2026 on all of their remarkable achievements!
Anyone who wishes to make financial contributions to the MHSAA may mail checks payable to the MHSAA to 114 W. Bell Avenue, McKenzie, Tenn. 38201.
Plans are underway for the third-annual MHSAA Decades Reunion weekend on September 25-26, 2026. All MHS alumni are invited to return to McKenzie to reconnect with friends, classmates and their former teachers through many reunions and other planned events. Updates on the weekend activities and class reunions will be provided via the MHSAA Facebook page as well as The McKenzie Banner.
