McKENZIE (May 1) — MJ's Mercantile at 25 Henderson Drive celebrated its one-year anniversary Friday with an open house and ribbon-cutting.

The curated vendor mall is owned by Lee Anne Teague and houses 36 vendors and consigners.

Teague told The Banner the business is named after Mama Jean, the grandmother who raised her.

Besides room after room of artwork, antiquities and other treasures, she said MJ's offers classes such as painting, candlemaking and soapmaking and hosts meetings for small groups. The mall also holds Facebook Live sales every other Thursday and will soon add Whatnot live sales.

MJ's also provides in-home consignment sale services, such as for estates.

Friday's ribbon-cutting was sponsored by the McKenzie Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments were available for the all-day open house, and special sales continued through the weekend.

Teague is a Kentucky native who attended Bethel College and since then has lived in Paris, where she also owns 38242 Vintage Mall. The two malls share a staff of five employees.

MJ's Mercantile is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.
