Rebels Crush Lions on Eighth Grade Night

McKENZIE (April 17) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Camden Thursday and celebrated Eighth Grade Night. Nine eight graders were recognized before the game with family members. The Rebel offense exploded for a 12-3 win in four innings.
Eighth graders were Hudson Garrett, son of Heather and Hunter Garrett; Brayden Mort, son of Kyle Mort; Cayden Gordon, son of Ashley and David Gordon; Brin Murray, son of Brinnen and Dawn Murray; Parker Ross, son of Patrick and Anita Ross; Dawson Reeder, son of Brittany and Tyler Reeder; Tucker Redmond, son of Jack and Nicole Redmond; Bryson Smith, son of Amanda and Todd Gotshall and Brandon Smith; and Sammy Willen, son of Carla Wagner and grandson of Shannon Beck.
McKenzie set the tone with ten runs in the first inning and followed with a run in each of the next two frames. Camden’s three runs came in the top of the third.
Rebel Seth Stafford was 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two runs scored. Dawson Reeder went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Dierks Ghyers was 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Hudson Garrett went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Parker Ross went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Leighem Broyles was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Lane Brown went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Tucker Redmond got the start and the win for McKenzie, allowing no runs or hits while striking out three and walking one in an inning and two-thirds. Parker Ross threw two-thirds of an inning, allowing two earned runs on one hit while striking out two and walking two. Seth Stafford pitched an inning, allowing one earned run on one hit while striking out three and walking four. Hudson Garrett got the final two outs, allowing no runs or hits with one strikeout.
