McKENZIE (March 7) — McKenzie Middle School hosted a health fair Friday, with 17 organizations participating. From the eclectic set of presentations, students learned about a wide variety of factors that affect their health and things they can do to live healthier lives.

Among those set up were: Hometown Health Clinic; MSSD Food Service; Baptist Memorial Hospital Carroll County; Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network; McKenzie Fire Department; McKenzie Police Department; UT Martin Department of Nursing; Carroll County Prevention Coalition; Carroll County Health Department; Carroll County Library; West Tennessee Legal Services; Department of Family and Consumer Services; Carey Counseling; Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital; Beating Hearts; MMS Support Specialists; and Hospital Wing.

The event was organized by school nurse Gale Edwards, who told The Banner, “This is a way to bring kids in to learn things about life, exercise, good nutrition and avoiding drugs and smoking. It’s also a way to introduce them to resources for the problems they may encounter, to help them realize what’s out there.”
