Nirvana Performance Wins Middle School Talent Show

McKENZIE (May 15) — McKenzie Middle School hosted its annual talent show Friday, May 15, with fifteen acts participating. Four acts took prizes home that afternoon, with the first-place prize going to six students' performance of Nirvana's "Come As You Are." — complete with vocals, drums, bass, acoustic guitar and electric guitars.
The winning performers were Brenton Hickerson, Riley Crafton, Braedon Jones, Savannah Arvizu, Zach Fuller and Gabe Green.
The second place act was Calista and Ava Diller. They performed "You Say" by Lauren Daigle using American Sign Language.
Te'Veya Milton earned third place with a singing performance of "Dancing in the Sky."
The crowd-favorite performance was Aubrey Wilkes singing "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.
Additional acts included Brooklyn Ruprich's performance of "Medley of Songs and Fur Elise" on keys; Summer Borum Floyd's singing performance of "Lovely" by Billie Eilish; Bryson Davis' karate presentation to "Kung Fu Fighting;" Addie Brown and Calli Davidson's duet to "Light of the World;" Zach Reeder's performance of "When the Saints Go Marching In" on the trumpet; Christiana Smith, Harper Irwin and Kinsley Parham's singing performance to "You Belong to Me" by The Lennon Sisters; Jaxon Hochreiter and Kane Phillip's performance of The Wiggle Dance; Conner Oakes' singing performance of "God Bless the USA;" Bailey Lovell, Ryan McCann, Fisher Allen, Jackson Barden and Leighem Broyles' performance of "Broken Window Serenade;" and Charles Scott's yo-yo trick act.
