From the Jul 16, 2024 e-Edition
McKENZIE (July 10) — On Wednesday, the McKenzie Parks and Recreation Board met to continue the discussion of constructing a soccer complex in the City of McKenzie. After some discussion, the Board along with members of the community have come together to move forward on plans to construct the complex at Mulberry Park.
Jason Arnold spoke on behalf of the youth soccer league. Arnold stated he along with others have spoken at length about incorporating the plans drawn up by the City of McKenzie and the needs of the soccer league along with the residents in the Mulberry community.
There were discussions about improved lighting, modifications to existing facilities, and the possibility of upgrades. The actual cost was not discussed.
While including the National Guard was mentioned, it does not seem likely they will be included in the next stages of discussion.
The next meeting will occur at Mulberry Park on August 14 at 5:30 p.m.
