Mustangs Cage Lions in Opening Round, 12-2

HUNTINGDON (May 1) — Huntingdon High School hosts the District 12AA Baseball Tournament and made an opening-round statement with a 12-2 defeat of the Camden Lions Thursday.

Camden struck first with a run in the top of the first, but the Mustangs answered with three in the home half and added a pair in the second. The Lions plated their second and final run in the third, and again Huntingdon responded with three. The Mustangs added a run in the fifth, then ended the game early with three in the sixth, with the final two runs coming on a walk-off, inside-the-park home run by Gray Eubanks.

Eubanks was 2-for-3 with the home run, two walks, two RBIs and three runs scored. Silas Sharp went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs. Hayes Eubanks was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Braylin Dearmon batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Brady Warbritton was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. Broox Bennett went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Braylon Rich was 0-for-1 with three walks, an RBI and a run scored. Aiden Hilliard went 0-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored.

Caleb Ezell earned the complete-game victory for Huntingdon, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits while striking out five and walking one in six innings.
