Mustangs Crush Lions in Opener, 13-3

HUNTINGDON (April 30) — The Huntingdon High School Mustangs opened the District 12AA Baseball Tournament with a dominant win over the Camden Lions Thursday night, 13-3 in five innings.

Camden struck first with three runs in the top of the first frame and held that lead until the Mustangs tied it in the bottom of the third. Huntingdon took a huge lead with a nine-run fourth, then added one in the fifth to end the game early.

Mustang Broox Bennett was 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk, an RBI, three runs scored and two stolen bases. Colt Wood was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two RBIs, a run scored and two stolen bases. Silas Sharp was 1-for-1 with a sacrifice fly, a walk and two RBIs. Owen Kreuziger was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Caleb Ezell was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Braylin Dearmon was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. Cy Hankins was 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored. Hayes Eubanks was 0-for-1 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Lion Carter Maines was 1-for-1 with a home run, a walk, three RBIs and one run scored. Amaury Rogers was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. JD Greer was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.

Kenton Smith earned the complete-game win for Huntingdon, allowing three earned runs on three hits while walking three and striking out three.

Carter Maines took the loss for Camden, allowing seven runs (six earned) on two hits while walking six and striking out four in three and two-thirds innings. Amaury Rogers pitched to four batters, allowing four earned runs on three hits and a walk. Noah Harper pitched the final frame, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits with no walks.
