Mustangs End Season with Game Two Loss in Extra Innings

BELL BUCKLE (May 14) — The Huntingdon High School Mustangs ended their season Thursday with a 2-0 loss in an 11-inning pitching duel to the Cascade Champions in Game Two of the best-of-three TSSAA Class 2A Baseball Sectional Series.

The game was scoreless through ten innings, then Cascade finally broke through for a pair in the top of the 11th.

Mustang Owen Kreuziger was 2-for-4. Cy Hankins was 1-for-4. Hayes Eubanks was 1-for-5. Silas Sharp and Kenton Smith were each 0-for-3 with a walk.

Champion Caleb Crouch was 2-for-5. Wickey Parker was 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored. Elijah Wesenberg was 1-for-4 with a double. Jayden Maldonado was 1-for-4. Xykaiah Dixon was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base. Jayden Hathcock was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Jayden Hathcock got the start for Cascade, allowing no runs on one hit while walking two and striking out 15 in eight innings. Wickey Parker pitched the final three frames and earned the win, allowing no runs on three hits while walking none and striking out five.

Owen Kreuziger started the game for Huntingdon, allowing no runs on five hits while walking one and striking out seven in nine innings. Kenton Smith pitched the final two frames and took the loss, allowing two earned runs on one hit with two walks and four strikeouts.
