Mustangs Sweep Milan in Home-Away Set

MILAN/HUNTINGDON (April 6-7) — Huntingdon High School baseball began the week with a home-away set against district foe Milan. Monday, Milan hosted as the Mustangs took a 4-2 road win. Tuesday, Huntingdon hosted and held the Bulldogs hitless for a 3-0 victory to complete the sweep.

Huntingdon Mustangs 4, Milan Bulldogs 2

Milan struck first Monday with a run in the bottom of the first. Huntingdon responded with one in the top of the second, then took the lead with two runs in the third. The Mustangs added a run in the fifth, and the Bulldogs mustered one in the sixth.

Mustang Colt Wood was 2-for-3. Broox Bennett was 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Cy Hankins was 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBIs and a run scored. Kenton Smith was 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Silas Sharp was 0-for-1 with two walks.

Bulldog Will Johnson was 3-for-3 with a home run and a walk. Lucas Morris was 1-for-3 with a home run. Whitten Dobbs was 1-for-3.

Caleb Ezell earned the complete-game win for Huntingdon, allowing two earned runs on five hits while walking two and striking out six.

James Carter took the loss for Milan, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits while walking four and striking out two in six innings. Alex Nelson pitched the final frame, allowing no runs, hits or walks.

Mustangs 3, Bulldogs 0

In Tuesday's low-scoring game, Huntingdon scored single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings.

Mustang Owen Kreuziger was 2-for-3. Colt Wood was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Caleb Ezell was 1-for-1. Cy Hankins was 1-for-2 with a walk. Silas Sharp was 1-for-3. Hayes Eubanks was 0-for-2 with an RBI sacrifice fly.

Bulldog Judson Scott was 0-for-1 with two walks and a stolen base. Whitten Dobbs was 0-for-1 with two walks. James Carter was 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base.

Kenton Smith earned the win for Huntingdon, allowing no runs or hits while walking five and striking out eight in six innings. Cy Hankins threw the final frame, allowing no runs, hits or walks.

Will Johnson took the complete-game loss for Milan, allowing three runs (one earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out five.
