McKENZIE (May 1) — Carroll County FCE welcomed approximately 40 Family and Community Education (FCE) club members from surrounding counties for the Northeast FCE Cluster Meeting, held at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McKenzie.

Attendees traveled from Carroll, Dickson, Henry, Benton, Houston, Humphreys and Montgomery counties for a full day of educational programs, fellowship and community service.

The program featured several informative presentations. Henry County FCS Agent Michele Atkins spoke on “Dating Over 60,” offering insight and encouragement for navigating relationships later in life. Carroll County FCS Agent Lacy Yeley presented on generational differences, highlighting how perspectives and communication styles vary across age groups. Benton County FCS Agent Heather Smith also led a session on current hot topics, including strategies for effectively dealing with teens.

Participants enjoyed a catered lunch provided by Simply Southern of Gleason, adding a local touch to the day’s events.

Following lunch, Heather Foster of the Prevention Coalition presented the “Hidden in Plain Sight” simulation, an interactive experience designed to raise awareness about substance use and warning signs that may be easily overlooked.

In addition to the educational sessions, attendees took part in a service project, collecting items to support the Carroll County Humane Society.

Overall, the event was a great success, offering valuable learning opportunities, meaningful connections and a chance to give back to the community.
