Neighbors Helping Neighbors
From the Apr 16, 2024 e-Edition
McKENZIE (April 13) — It was neighbors helping neighbors when members of the McKenzie Senior Citizens Center decided to host a spaghetti dinner to benefit the McKenzie United Neighbors.
Carol Armpriest said the seniors sold approximately 100 tickets at $10 each for a plate of spaghetti to benefit the non-profit McKenzie United Neighbors, an organization that serves the lower income individuals in the community by providing clothes, food, and other assistance.
The cooks for the event were Mike Goodwin, Tammy Host, Gary Crawford, and Stella Hughes.
The McKenzie Senior Citizens Center hosts regular events including exercise classes, movie outings, cake walks, karaoke, crafts, dances and potluck dinners.
Anyone aged 50 and over can join. Some of the events are free. Games include canasta, bingo, dominoes, and billiards.
Each month, the center hosts a movie at Park Theatre. The price is $5 for movie, soda and popcorn.
McKenzie Senior Citizen Center is located on Main Street South adjacent to E.W. James Supermarket.
