HUNTINGDON (November 12) — On Tuesday, Carroll County announced its new EMA Director, Steven “Trevor” Foster. County Mayor Joseph Butler said, “After a thorough search and vetting of a number of very qualified candidates, I am excited to inform you that I have offered the EMA Director position to Steven ‘Trevor’ Foster, and he has accepted the position.”
In late August, former EMA Director Janice Newman announced she was retiring at the end of September after 26 years.
Foster is a Carroll County resident who comes to the position with a background as a paramedic with the ambulance service, as the Captain of the Emergency Medical Responder program, and as a volunteer member of both the Carroll County Fire Department and the Carroll County Rescue Squad.
He holds several certifications through Jackson State Community College and several other certifications and licenses. He has passed several TEMA and FEMA courses that are required for the position.
Foster stated, “I feel incredibly blessed and honored to have been given this opportunity. I thank Mayor Butler and the county commissioners for the confidence and trust they have bestowed upon me. I look forward to working cooperatively with the agencies, departments, businesses, and schools within Carroll County.”
He went on to say that his vision for the county EMA includes active involvement in the community and with stakeholders in improving the county in its emergency preparedness.’
“I plan to hold drills and training with the local schools and hospital. I am currently working on social media profiles to better engage and notify the county in case of an emergency. I am a huge advocate of grants and inter-agency training,” he concluded.
