Out of this World Trip to Roswell

ROSWELL, New Mexico (July 7) — Did you hear about the UFO vehicle traveling from Indiana to Roswell, New Mexico for the annual UFO Festival? The driver was pulled over in three states, but ultimately made it in time to be spotted in the AlienFest Light Parade in Roswell on Saturday night, July 6. Law enforcement in Missouri, Oklahoma and New Mexico all got photos with the craft and occupants.
The UFO-like car, crafted from metal panels with a clear, spherical roof, was driven by Steve Anderson, who was en route from Indiana to the UFO festival in Roswell, New Mexico.
Officer Darin Layman first stopped the unusual vehicle along Interstate 44 in Missouri. Initially citing a lane violation and expired Indiana license plates, Layman admitted he was also curious about the peculiar vehicle. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office shared humorous images and remarks on Facebook, noting that the “friendly humanoids have come in peace” and jokingly warned the driver about “warp speed” enforcement and keeping his “phasers on stun-only.”
Anderson’s journey continued with similar interactions in Oklahoma, where he was pulled over twice and needed brake repairs. Officials there also let him off with a laugh and a warning.
The final stop occurred in New Mexico, where Anderson and his companion, Marilyn Dicks, took photos with the local police and chatted about the upcoming UFO festival.
Since 1996, Roswell, New Mexico, has hosted an annual UFO festival celebrating the famous 1947 incident where an Army Air Force balloon crash led to widespread speculation about an alien spacecraft. The festival features an alien chase, a pet costume contest, and the AlienFest Light Parade.
Despite the unusual nature of his vehicle, Anderson’s interactions with police were positive and light-hearted. Officer Layman summed up the encounters, saying, “Given the good nature of the driver and the interesting nature of the vehicle, we wished him safe travels to his destination.”
Didn’t want you to miss out on this moment of pop culture!
