McKENZIE — Overflow Church was honored by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) and recognized as a Certified Recovery Congregation.

The people of Overflow Church believe this certification is important, because ‘everyone deserves the chance at a fresh start’ along with their emphasis of an ‘opportunity to pursue their full potential through Jesus.’

In a press released issued by the church, it said Overflow is passionate about people in all walks of life and offers programs and support groups, such as: Chemical Dependent, Celebrate Recovery, A.A., Mixed Issues (co-ed), grief share, and others.

TDMHSAS developed its faith-based initiatives to engage, equip, and empower individuals and communities of faith to have a positive impact on the needs of their communities in regards to addiction, behavioral health, and recovery.

The State developed the service to provide the opportunity to leverage this critical, untapped network of caring individuals and faith communities to help address unmet behavioral health needs in the state.

Chris Smith is the faith-based coordinator for northwest Tennessee, who recognizes those congregations through training and other partnerships.

Overflow welcomes everyone to attend worship services each Sunday at 8 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. plus an online-only service at 5 p.m.

Overflow is honored to partner with the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
