McKENZIE — Philip Neal Edwards, age 96, died on July 9th, 2026, at Collierville Baptist Hospice House.


The family will receive friends at Brummitt McKenzie Funeral Home on July 14, 2026, from 10:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. A graveside service will follow at Carroll County Memorial Gardens on July 14, 2026, at 12:30 P.M. Chaplain Jim Ennis will be officiating.


Mr. Edwards was born on April 23, 1930, in McKenzie, Tennessee, to the late Frank and Mary Edwards.


On August 19, 1951, he married the love of his life, Frances Edwards. Together they shared 71 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and unwavering devotion to one another.


Mr. Edwards dedicated his life to serving his country and his community. He retired as a captain with the Tennessee Highway Patrol after 30 years of distinguished service. He also proudly served for 42 years with the Tennessee Air National Guard in Memphis, retiring with the rank of senior master sergeant. Following his retirement, he continued his commitment to public service by working with the U.S. Marshals Service in both Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee.


A faithful member of McKenzie First Baptist Church, Mr. Edwards and his beloved wife were devoted members of their church family for many years.


He is survived by his two sons, Steven Neal(Donna) Edwards of Collierville, Tennessee, and David(Susan)Edwards of Bartlett, Tennessee; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many cherished friends who will miss him dearly.


Mr. Edwards will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, faithful Christian, and dedicated public servant. His life was marked by honor, integrity, humility, and an unwavering commitment to serving others. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
