From the Jul 15, 2025 e-EditionGLEASON, Tenn. - Phillip J. Upchurch, 94, formerly of Gleason, Tenn. died on July 4, 2025 at West Tenn. Volunteer Hospital in Martin, Tenn.. He will have a private family graveside service on July 7, 2025, at New Hope Cemetery in Gleason.
Mr. Upchurch is survived by two children, Paula (Glenn) Stofleth of Dresden, Tenn. and Thomas (Kim) Upchurch of Paris, Tenn.
He is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Upchurch was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Christine Upchurch; his parents, Jessie and Sallie Upchurch; three daughters, Emma Nell Hall, Joyce Ann Robertson, and Mary Upchurch; and four siblings.
