Funeral services are at 1 PM in the Chapel of Chase Funeral Home on Monday, December 29, 2025 with Bro. Andrew Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Family will receive friends in the Cherrywood Room of Chase Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until time of the service.
Pallbearers who will serve are Riley Carden, Josh Fronabarger, Brent Fronabarger, Nick Cobb, Kevin Webb, and Johnny Webb.
Mrs. Carden was born February 12, 1950, to the late James Ford Fronabarger and Jo Priestly Walker Fronabarger. Today we remember Phyllis who lived her life to the fullest with an immense love of her Lord, her family, her friends, and her students at Clarksburg High School.
Phyllis graduated valedictorian from Clarksburg High School in 1968. She married the love of her life, Lois Carden March 14, 1969. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, Phyllis graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bethel College with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and from U.T. Martin with her Master’s Degree in Psychology.
Phyllis was a devoted teacher and guidance counselor at Clarksburg High School for 30 years. She had a passion for helping all students achieve their highest level of education possible and went above and beyond to help any student do so. Her ability to make learning fun and meaningful left a lasting impact on all of her students at Clarksburg School.
Phyllis was a born-again Christian and a founding member of County Line Missionary Baptist Church, where she served many years as a Sunday School teacher and shared her love of her Savior. Phyllis’s Christian faith was shown in her abundant love for her family and students. She was a selfless, generous, and loving wife, mother, granny, teacher, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James “Jimmy” Fronabarger, and a great-grandchild, Saylor Willis.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lois Carden, their beloved children Stephanie Vincent and son in law Jeff Vincent, Shannon Carden and daughter in love Holly Carden, and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Shannah Willis, Abbie Hooten, and Riley Carden (Aleah) and great granddaughters, Tatum Willis, Hadleigh Willis, and Colbi Hooten. She also leaves behind three sisters Kim Cobb (Alan), Sandy Rush, and Tracy Fronabarger.
