WASHINGTON. D.C. (October 18) — M.C.I. Foods Inc., a California-based company, is recalling approximately 91,585 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) breakfast burrito and wrap products. These products, which are included in the USDA’s National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, are being recalled due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, raising concerns for federal school food programs nationwide. The recalled products were manufactured between September 17 and October 14, 2025.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall after the manufacturer discovered Listeria during routine testing of egg ingredients from its external suppliers. The affected items, sold under the brands El Mas Fino, Los Cabos, and Midamar, include various breakfast burritos and wraps containing egg, cheese, and meats like beef, ham, sausage, and turkey.

These products were shipped to foodservice institutions nationwide and are included in the USDA’s National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. FSIS is urging institutions not to serve these products and to dispose of them.

While there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses associated with this recall, Listeria infection (listeriosis) can cause serious health issues, especially for pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, headache, stiff neck, muscle aches, confusion, loss of balance, and gastrointestinal problems.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact M.C.I. Foods Inc. at 888-345-5364.
