Rebels are State Bound

McKENZIE (May 15) — The McKenzie Rebel High School Baseball team played the Richland Raiders in a double header for a shot at the TSSAA State Championship Tournament. In a best out of three format, the Rebels were able to two from the Raiders to advance to championship series.
In game one, Tate Surber was on the mound and struck out eight batters while walking one. Only four Richland batters made it on base in the first game. The Rebels single run was off a double by Lane Anderson that advanced Gage Crosland home in the second inning. McKenzie had zero fielding errors this game. Anderson and Craegen Travis executed a nice double play in the fourth inning for the second and third out. The final score was 1-0 McKenzie.
Anderson pitched the second game of the night and also striking out eight batters and one walk. McKenzie’s first two runs came in the first inning with a RBI double from Jake Cassidy that got Hayden Garrett home and a hit from Cole Brown that got Ace Brown across the plate. Richland had their first run in the bottom of the first inning which left the score 2-1 until the fourth inning. Crosland brought Fletcher Holt home in the fourth for the Rebels final run. Richland cut the score to 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning. At the end of the seventh inning, the McKenzie Rebels came out on top with a score of 3-2 sending them back to the State Tournament for the third year in a row.
