Rebels Cage Lions, 4-2

McKENZIE (April 9) — McKenzie Middle School hosted Camden Junior High for a conference baseball game Thursday afternoon. The visiting Lions overcame an early deficit, but the Rebels pulled ahead for a 4-2 win.

McKenzie struck first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first. Camden tied it with two in the top of the second. The Rebels regained the lead for good with two runs in the fourth.

Rebel Seth Stafford was 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run scored. Kenden Coleman was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Rex Thompson was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Jake Ghyers was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Leighem Broyles was 1-for-3.

Lion Max P. was 2-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. Fisher P. was 1-for-1 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base. Weston P. was 1-for-3.

Lane Brown got the start for McKenzie, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits while walking one in an inning and a third. Seth Stafford earned the win with three and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing no runs on two hits while walking two and striking out nine.

Gavin M. took the loss for Camden, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits while walking one and striking out six in four innings. Weston P. pitched the final two-thirds of an inning, allowing no runs or hits with one walk.
