Rebels Edge Milan, 8-6

MILAN (April 13) — Milan Middle School baseball hosted McKenzie Monday. The Rebels jumped ahead early and held on for an 8-6 win.

McKenzie started strong with five runs in the top of the first. Milan answered with three in the home half. The Rebels added a pair in the second, and the Bulldogs added one. Milan cut the deficit to one run with a pair in the fourth, but McKenzie plated an insurance run in the top of the fifth.

Rebel Reed Gaskins was 1-for-2 with a triple, a walk and two RBIs. Leighem Broyles was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Seth Stafford was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Jake Ghyers was 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Jackson Barden was 1-for-2 with a run scored. Kenden Coleman was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Bulldog Tatum T. was 2-for-3 with a double. Braxton W. was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Brooks R. was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Jake M. was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Eli E. was 1-for-3.

Leighem Broyles earned the win for McKenzie, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits while walking five and striking out four in three and two-thirds innings. Kenden Coleman pitched the final inning and a third, allowing no runs on two hits with no walks and one strikeout.

CJ F. got the start for Milan and faced four batters, allowing four earned runs on three hits with no walks. Braxton W. pitched five innings of relief and took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits while walking three and striking out nine.
