Rebels Edge Tigers, 3-2

McKENZIE (April 6) — McKenzie High School hosted Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Monday for a district baseball contest. The host Rebels edged out a 3-2 win despite the Tigers outhitting McKenzie, 9-4.

McKenzie struck first with a run in the bottom of the first, then added two in the second. Central rallied for a pair in the top of the fifth.

Rebel Aiden Legens was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Lelan Gordon was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Cole Brown was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Cooper Davidson was 1-for-3. Maddox Shiell was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored.

Tiger Tanner Walters was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Braxton Howard was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Drake Hollingsworth was 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Brody Huff, Gage Weatherly and Dalton Howard were each 1-for-3. Brayden Maness was 1-for-4.

Xander Johnsey earned the complete-game win for McKenzie, allowing two unearned runs on nine hits while walking none and striking out eight.

Gage Weatherly took the complete-game loss for Central, allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits while walking four and striking out eight.
