Rebels Fall to Patriots Despite Hit Advantage

McKENZIE (March 18) — McKenzie High School hosted Henry County Tuesday for afternoon baseball. Despite outhitting the Patriots, the Rebels fell 7-3.

After two scoreless frames, Henry County struck first with three runs in the top of the third and matched that in the fourth. McKenzie mustered one run in the home half and added two more in the fifth. The Patriots tacked on an insurance run in the sixth.

Rebel Craegen Travis went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Xander Johnsey was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Tate Surber went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Fletcher Holt hit 1-for-3 with a run scored. Ace Brown was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Cole Brown went 1-for-4.

Patriot Levi Peale was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Martez Rack went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Peyton Littleton batted 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.

Turner McSwain got the start for Henry County, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking none in four and a third innings. Two pitchers combined for two and two-thirds innings of relief, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out three and walking one.

Tate Surber had the start for McKenzie, allowing six earned runs on six hits while striking out five and walking two in three and a third innings. Fletcher Holt pitched the final three and two-thirds innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out three and walking one.
