Rebels Fall to Trojans, 11-5
From the Mar 18, 2025 e-EditionDYER (March 13) — The McKenzie High School Rebels traveled to Gibson County High School Thursday to face Dyersburg in nondistrict baseball action. A big third inning was the difference for the Trojans as they took the win, 11-5.
Rebel Tate Surber went 3-for-3 with two triples, two RBIs and two runs scored. Fletcher Holt went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Cole Brown was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Xander Johnsey was 1-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. Lelan Gordon went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
Craegen Travis had the start for McKenzie, allowing six earned runs on five hits while walking two in two-and-a-third innings. Avery Brown pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief, allowing three earned runs on four hits with a strikeout. Ripken Thompson threw two-thirds of an inning as well, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit with two walks. Lelan Gordon faced one batter and issued a walk.
