Rebels Get Senior Day Win, Lady Rebels Fall to Greenfield

McKENZIE (April 28) — McKenzie High School tennis hosted Greenfield Monday and celebrated Senior Day. The Rebels earned a 1-0 win while the Lady Rebels were defeated 6-1.
Prior to the match, Coach Dru Emerson recognized seniors Caleb Burke and Kyla Beveridge, along with Alex Garcia, a junior international exchange student who will not be returning next year.
Burke earned the boys' 1-0 win with an 8-2 victory over Greenfield's lone player, Deegan Arant.
Lady Rebel Morgan Little picked up a 10-8 win over Addisyn Totty in singles play, while several other matchups were close. Ava Hastings fell 9-7 to Caroline Warren. Willow Arnold also fell 9-7 in a lengthy game with Ava Spikes featuring multiple tiebreakers. Kyla Beveridge was defeated 8-4 by Addisen Cooper, and Ashley Dunavant fell 8-3 to Avery High.
In doubles play, Beveridge and Arnold took a narrow defeat, 10-8, to Cooper and Spikes. Hastings and Dunavant lost 8-1 to High and Warren.
