Rebels Sweep Tigers in Doubleheader
From the Apr 29, 2025 e-EditionBRUCETON (April 21) — The McKenzie Middle School Rebels traveled Monday for a doubleheader against the Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central Middle School Tigers. The Rebels were dominant in both contests for 12-1 and 10-0 wins.
Game 1: McKenzie Rebels 12, Central Tigers 1
The Tigers struck first with a run in the bottom of the first, but McKenzie tied it with a run in the top of the second. From there, the Rebels pulled away quickly with six runs in the third and five in the fourth.
Rebel Leighem Broyles was 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base. Hudson Garrett went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base. Dierks Ghyers was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Parker Ross batted 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Brayden Mort was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Seth Stafford went 0-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base. Lane Brown was 0-for-2 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base.
Seth Stafford earned the complete-game no-hitter for McKenzie, allowing one unearned run while striking out ten and walking one in four innings.
Game 2: Rebels 10, Tigers 0
As the home team in the second leg of the doubleheader, McKenzie scored a run in each of the first two innings, then plated eight in the third to end the game.
Rebel Seth Stafford was 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and a stolen base. Hudson Garrett went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Dierks Ghyers was 1-for-2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Parker Ross went 0-for-0 with two walks, two runs scored and three stolen bases. Leighem Broyles was 0-for-0 with two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Lane Brown went 0-for-0 with a walk and an RBI. Jake Ghyers was 0-for-0 with a walk and a run scored.
Tucker Redmond earned the complete-game shutout for McKenzie, allowing two hits while striking out four and walking four in three innings.
