Rebels Top Lions, 6-2

McKENZIE (March 6) —- The McKenzie High School Rebels hosted Camden Thursday to start the baseball season. A four-run first was the difference as the Rebels took the win, 6-2.

The visiting Lions cut their deficit in half with two runs in the top of the second, but McKenzie added a run in the third and another in the fourth to complete the scoring.

Rebel Craegen Travis was 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. Cooper Davidson was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, an RBI and a run scored. Maddox Shiell was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Cole Brown was 0-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and a stolen base. KD Cunningham was 0-for-3 with two RBIs.

Lion Gage Johnson was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a stolen base. Bryson Bivens was 1-for-2 with a stolen base. Eli Lantrendesse was 1-for-3.

Rebel Tate Surber earned the win, allowing two earned runs on one hit while walking four and striking out six in four innings. Ripken Thompson threw three shutout innings in relief, allowing two hits while walking none and striking out two.

Maddox Trull took the loss for Camden, allowing six runs (three earned) on three hits while walking eight and striking out eight over five innings. Carter Maines threw one shutout inning in relief, allowing one hit with one walk and three strikeouts.
