Rebels Top Panthers, Lady Rebels Fall

DECATURVILLE (December 6) — McKenzie traveled to Riverside High School Friday night for a pair of basketball contests. The Lady Panthers pulled away in the second quarter to top the Lady Rebels, 61-46. The Rebels rode an early lead to a 66-56 win.

Riverside Lady Panthers 61, McKenzie Lady Rebels 46
The opening frame was a 12-12 wash. Braylin Auvenshine led McKenzie with five points, including a three-pointer. Molly French scored four, also with a three, and Jaycee Stafford had three points. Alyssa Pratt led Riverside with six points on a pair of threes. Bentley Rogers hit a three, and Lauren Camper also scored three points.

The Lady Panthers had an 11-1 advantage in the second quarter, led by Camper with seven points. Pratt and Rogers each added a pair. Stafford hit a free throw for McKenzie. At the half, the Lady Panthers led 23-13.

Riverside enjoyed a 16-10 tilt in the third, led by Pratt with eight points. Rogers scored seven with a three, and Emma Johnson hit a freebie. Stafford scored eight for the Lady Rebels, and Auvenshine added a pair. Entering the final frame, the Lady Panthers led 39-23.

McKenzie had a 23-22 edge in the fourth for a closer final, led by Stafford and Addison Milam with eight points each, both with a pair of three-pointers. French scored five with a three, and Aurora Johnson had a pair. Camper scored nine for Riverside, and Rogers and Lillian Wade each had four points. E. Johnson hit a three, and Pratt added a pair.

Lady Rebel Jaycee Stafford led all scorers with 20 points, including a pair of threes. Molly French scored nine, also with a pair of three-pointers.

Lauren Camper led the Lady Panthers with 19 points. Alyssa Pratt scored 18 with a pair of threes. Bentley Rogers scored 16, also with a pair of threes.

Rebels 66, Panthers 56
McKenzie led 20-13 after the first frame, led by Tate Surber with nine points, including a three-pointer. Carter Kee also hit a three, and Cole Brown, Martez Teague, Craegen Travis and KD Cunningham each had a pair. Jack Cupples led Riverside with eight points. Aidan Lunsford and Matthew Wyatt each had a pair, and Kutter Potts hit a free throw.

The Panthers closed the gap with a 13-10 edge in the second quarter, led by Gavin McClain with seven points, including a pair of threes. Wyatt, Austin Shelton and Jase England each had a pair. Surber scored eight for the Rebels, and Brown added a pair. At the half, the Rebels led 30-26.

The third quarter was a 17-17 wash. Surber led McKenzie with ten points, Kee scored four, and Brown hit a three. Cupples scored a dozen for Riverside, Shelton had four points, and Potts hit a freebie. Heading into the final frame, the Rebels led 47-43.

McKenzie capped the victory with a 19-13 advantage in the fourth, led by Surber with seven, including a three-pointer. Kee scored six, and Brown, Travis and Cunningham each added a pair. Cupples scored nine with a three for the Panthers, and Shelton and Colt Brooks each had a pair.

Rebel Tate Surber led all scorers with 34 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Carter Kee scored 13 with a three.

Jack Cupples led Riverside with 29 points, including a three-pointer.
