Relay For Life is Saturday
From the Sep 3, 2024 e-EditionCarroll County Relay For Life, the annual American Cancer Society fundraising event, is Saturday, September 7 from 4-9 p.m. at the Carroll County Civic Center.
The theme of this year’s event is Superheroes for Hope.
Activities confirmed so far are: Bethel Renaissance Bluegrass Band, Cherrywine 451 Band, cake walks, hair tinsel, Massage by Brenna, children’s superhero items for sale, UT Vols game viewing, pirate ship jumper, fire truck expo, ambulance expo and Army truck expo.
Teams and their offerings confirmed so far: AHC-McKenzie — hair tinsel; BMH-CC — Ribeye steak sandwiches with grilled peppers/onions, chips, desserts, canned drinks, hot fudge cakes, pirate ship jumper; Carroll Bank & Trust — free bottled iced water; Davis Chapel Church — BBQ nachos with toppings, strawberry shortcake with ice cream, children’s superhero items, UT Vols game viewing at booth; Hexpol — grilled hot dogs; Huntingdon Health & Rehab — popcorn, pretzel bites; Rich family — BBQ bologna sandwiches, pecan tassies, sweet tea; Tosh Farms — pork tenderloin sandwiches, chips, cookies.
Tentative Schedule:
4 p.m. — Opening ceremony with Carl Byars: survivor check-in, welcome, opening prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem — Nicole Todd, moment of silence in honor of all loved ones with cancer, luminary information, sponsor recognition, team recognition, Honorary Chair — Cliff Sturdivant
4:30 p.m. — Bethel Renaissance Bluegrass Band.
4:30 p.m. — Cake walk.
5:45 p.m. — Cherrywine 451.
6:30 p.m. — Survivor recognition and lap.
7:15 p.m. — Cherrywine 451.
7:15 p.m. — Cake walk.
8 p.m. — Luminary remembrance ceremony and silent lap.
8:30 p.m. — Cherrywine 451.
8:30 p.m. — Cake walk.
9 p.m. — Closing ceremony: team awards, sponsor appreciation certificates.
