HUNTINGDON (February 4) — The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Hwy 70 Construction and Home Repair on Wednesday morning. The new business, based in Huntingdon, began serving Carroll, Benton and Henry counties in December 2025.

Jeremy James, founder and operations lead of Hwy 70 Construction and Home Repair, spent 24 years in the United States Navy working in engineering. Afterward, he owned an HVAC business for five years. Now, he hopes his military and business expertise will make this new venture all the more successful.

James, along with his crew, specialize in handyman, home repair, decks, drywall, painting, light/electrical and remodeling work.

Hwy 70 Construction and Home Repair's employees have a diverse skillset. There are electricians, plumbers, carpenters and even IT guys in the crew. Since opening, James and his team have worked on several bathrooms and kitchens in addition to many flooring jobs. They also pressure-washed, painted and installed new outdoor lights for the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

"As a customer, we have been very pleased," said Chamber President Brad Hurley. "Whenever you have a new business like this come in, we're excited. It's a tremendous opportunity. They've been successful, and we're looking for even bigger and better things from them. We're excited to watch them expand."
