McKENZIE (September 2) — Representatives of the United Way of West Tennessee spoke to members of the McKenzie Rotary Club on Tuesday, September 2.

Stefania Wheeler, Jennifer Medford and Sabrina Bates spoke about the expanded services now being offered to communities in West Tennessee.

Medford serves Carroll County. She told of the agency supporting families, some of whom are temporarily homeless. U.W. helps pay for temporary shelter while working with the family to address the need for daycare and for gainful employment. Medford said she helped 125 families in a single year.

Bates is new to United Way and is working in Henry County. She works with families and often coordinates with other human service agencies to serve the community’s needy. She said she also helps elderly citizens in completing necessary paperwork, which is often online.

United Way of West Tennessee is based in Jackson and serves the counties of Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Henry, Lake, Madison, McNairy, and Weakley.
