From the Feb 18, 2025 e-Edition
McKENZIE (February 11) — Members of the Rotary Club of McKenzie heard about the Land Between the Lakes Association during the weekly meeting on February 11 at Bethel University.
Elaine Jackson and Steve Nolan presented a program of the many recreational and other fun activities planned at the 170,000 acres of land lying between the Kentucky Lake and Barkley Lake. The recreational area, operated by the United States Forest Service, has backcountry hiking, bison and elk reserves, 1,400 campsites, horseback riding, a planetarium, an 1850s working primitive farm, and miles of winding roads through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Tennessee and Kentucky.
Elaine Jackson heads the volunteer service program at LBL. It offers volunteer and service opportunities for all ages, camps for organizations, and learning opportunities for student and adult individuals and groups.
