Rural Fire Chief Announcement Coming Soon
From the Dec 30, 2024 e-EditionThe Carroll County Commission will adjust its meeting schedule for January. With the anticipated hiring of a new chief for the county-wide rural fire department, Mayor Joseph Butler requested the County Legislative Body meet a week later in January.
He stated, “Given the importance of the review, ranking, and interview process for this hiring and the understanding that any nomination/appointment of a candidate would require official approval of the County Legislative Body, I plan to move our January meetings back a week each.”
Thus, the Resolutions Committee meets on Monday, January 13, and the Commission on Monday, January 20. This allows those involved in the hiring process to review and schedule interviews with the top candidates. On January 20, the top candidate will be presented to the Legislative Body for approval.
In the two weeks (December 13 through December 27) of accepting applications for the chief’s position, the Mayor’s office received over a dozen qualified applications.
