Senior Day at the Carroll County Fair

HUNTINGDON (August 13) — The Carroll County Civic Center was the place for senior citizens on Thursday during the annual Senior Citizen Day. The Center was filled with senior citizens throughout the county, some of whom competed in contests and earned a small token for their winnings and the gratitude of the large audience of their age-related peers.

The event attracted vendors who provide services to senior citizens. Phipps Pharmacy provided lunch for attendees.

Contests included the oldest man and woman, couple married the longest and shortest, contests to select the king and queen as determined by a panel of three judges, the prettiest legs and the ugliest legs.

The Senior Citizen Queen was Debbie Hartman with Callie Patterson as first runner-up, Peggy Work as second runner-up and Janice White as third runner-up.

The Senior Citizen King was Skip Bessette. Clark Brown was first runner-up, Charles Garner was second runner-up and Jay Barnett was third runner-up.

Ugliest Legs winner was Clark Brown, with Rebecca O’Dell as first runner-up and David Powers as second runner-up.

Virginia Parrish was the oldest female at 98. Clark Brown was the oldest man at 83.

Lynn Woods was judged to have the prettiest legs with Debbie Hartman and Janice White was runners-up.

Bob and Phyllis Wendt of Atwood were married the longest at 66 years.

Darus and Ida Johnson of Huntingdon were married the shortest at seven years.
