Senior Day on the Midway is Thursday
From the Aug 11, 2026 e-EditionHUNTINGDON — Senior Day on the Midway at the Carroll County Fair is Thursday, August 13 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. inside the Carroll County Civic Center at 201 Fairgrounds Road.
Senior citizens are invited to enjoy a day of fun, friends and fair-time memories.
The event is hosted by Carroll County Senior Services and their community partners.
Doors open at 10 a.m. for visitors to register and receive a raffle ticket and Bingo card. Vendors will be set up.
A cake walk begins at 10:45 a.m., followed by "A Little Friendly Competition" at 11 a.m. Categories include: Oldest Man/Woman, Oldest Married Couple, Newlyweds, Ugliest Legs, Prettiest Legs, Fair King/Queen.
At noon, baskets will be raffled and Bingo will begin.
Lunch, sponsored by Phipps Pharmacy, is served from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and includes grilled chicken fettuccini alfredo, salad, rolls, dessert and drinks.

Lynn Compton Provides a Glimpse at Carroll County’s Century-Long History of Electricity
HUNTINGDON (August 19) — Lynn Compton spoke to the Huntingdon Historical Society Wednesday about the history of electricity in Carroll County. Compton served as the second general manager of the Carroll County Electric Department, following in the footsteps of mentor Charlie Francisco. He joined the electric department at 19 and “climbed poles” for 13 years before moving up in rank. He served as the general manager for 26 years before retiring.
