Domestic Assault/ Interference with Emergency Calls — According to a report made by Deputy Jeremy Smith on January 25, Deputy Smith received two 911 calls from Emily Cruz, 42, of Atwood. The first call was to report that her son accidentally called 911. The second was to confirm the accidental nature of the first call. Dispatch informed Deputy Smith about the history of domestic violence in the home. Upon arrival, Deputy Smith contacted Emily’s husband, and their two teen children. The children reported that Emily had been drinking and arguing with their father and during the altercation Emily began banging on walls and hitting her own leg and asking for a knife. Her husband reported that during the argument, he attempted to dial 911 for help, but Emily grabbed the phone from his hands preventing the call. He also stated that Emily grabbed and squeezed his stomach causing slight redness. After asking Emily for her statement she alleged that her husband had hit and kicked her which he denied. Emily eventually changed her story and admitted to making false statements. Emily Cruz was transferred to Carroll County Jail.

Drug/Narcotic Violations — According to a report made by Deputy Chance Townes on January 27, he had initiated a traffic stop on a maroon Dodge Ram for window tint. The driver, Christian James Elmore-Manning, stated that he knew his tint was at 5%. He also did not have a valid license. He advised Christian he would be deploying K9 on the vehicle and advised his passengers. The female passenger, Kimberly Brown, 47, of Jackson, advised she didn’t have to exit the vehicle and that she was taking her bags with her, and Deputy Townes told her to leave the bags in the truck. She advised there would be illegal items in her bag, which confirmed to be methamphetamine. She also had an active warrant out of the state of Georgia, and she would be extradited there.

Simple Assault — According to a report made by Deputy Jason Walker on January 27, an employee at Dollar General in Cedar Grove called the Sheriff’s office to report and unknown black male entering the store being very belligerent and yelling and cussing at the employees and threatening to kill them. On January 29, Investigator Sawyers did receive information that the individual was Adrian Yarbrough from Savannah. He does have active warrants from Hardin County and one for Assault will be warranted out of Carroll County.

Burglary — According to a report made by Deputy Sean Bongiovanni on January 28, Carroll County Deputies were dispatched to Lavinia to make a report on a possible burglary. Ms. Betty Leach explained that she owns an empty home across the street from her and that when she went to the home, she noticed the bedroom window was open and a total of three doors were also open. The bedroom door, back door, and the back storm door which were both locked from the inside before. After investigating, it was found that an antique clock was stolen from the home. There is nothing else to report currently.
