From the Sep 30, 2025 e-EditionFraudulent Check Investigation — According to a report on Sept. 17, made by Deputy Bo Ezell, he and Deputy Heather Townes responded to a residence on Anark Road in Huntingdon regarding a forged check. Deputies learned that a check had been altered and cashed at a U.S. Bank in the amount of $39,700. The bank advised the account holder that the stolen funds would be reimbursed. The incident remains under investigation.
Dogs Running at Large — According to a report on Sept. 22, made by Deputy James M. Boaz, deputies responded to a complaint on Old Stage Road in Huntingdon regarding dogs running loose. A resident reported that two dogs belonging to her neighbor, Charles G. Merritt, 73, of Huntingdon, were back on her property despite prior warnings for him to keep the animals penned.
Deputies went to Merritt’s residence and observed the two dogs matching the description provided by the complainant. After making contact, Merritt confirmed the dogs belonged to him. He was cited into Carroll County General Sessions Court with a court date set for Oct. 8.
