Theft Investigation — On March 29, Deputy Milholen responded to a residence on Leach Road in reference to a reported stolen firearm.

Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the complainant, who advised that his handgun had been taken from his vehicle during the early morning hours while he was at another residence.

The complainant stated the firearm had been left in the glove compartment and was last seen at a residence on West Main Street in Huntingdon. The firearm was described as a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun valued at approximately $600.

This incident occurred in Carroll County.

Possession of Schedule II — On March 26, Deputy McClure initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Impala on Highway 220 after observing a defective taillight. Upon contact, the driver was identified as John Dylan Ripley, 32, of Lavinia.

The deputy observed signs of extreme nervousness, including shaking hands and heavy breathing. Ripley was asked to exit the vehicle, and during a pat-down, a baggie was located on his person. A strong odor of marijuana was also present.

Ripley admitted to having marijuana and consented to the removal of the items. A cigarette case containing approximately 1.2 grams of methamphetamine was discovered. Ripley admitted the substance was meth.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Carroll County Jail for possession of Schedule II (methamphetamine).

This incident occurred in Carroll County.

Identity Theft / Impersonation Report — On March 30, Deputy Williams spoke with a complainant regarding possible identity theft involving her child. The complainant reported that her taxes were denied because her child had already been claimed by another party.

She advised that no one else should have been able to claim the child and that the IRS would not provide information on who submitted the claim. She was advised to report the issue to the IRS for further investigation and to notify authorities if additional fraudulent activity occurred.

This incident occurred in Carroll County.

Death Investigation — On March 25, Deputy Williams responded to a residence on Highway 70 in reference to a deceased individual. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a male subject on a porch swing at the residence.

Emergency personnel and the county coroner were on scene. Photographs were taken, and the individual was transported to the county morgue. Next of kin was notified.

This was determined to be a natural death.

Simple Possession of Schedule VI — On March 28, Deputy Scott conducted a traffic stop on Highway 79 for speeding. While speaking with the occupants, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

A passenger was identified as Daniel Cody Lott, 33, of Atwood. Lott admitted to smoking marijuana earlier. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately 26 grams of marijuana.

Lott stated the driver was unaware of the marijuana. He was cited for simple possession of Schedule VI.

This incident occurred in Carroll County.
