Soccer Cats Take Down Blue Mountain
From the Aug 26, 2025 e-EditionMcKENZIE — The Bethel Wildcats won their season opener Saturday afternoon beating visiting Blue Mountain Christian 3-0. It was also the season opener for the Toppers.
The win marked the seventh straight year the Wildcats have been victorious in their openers.
A first period goal by Souleymane Balde gave the Wildcats a 1-nil lead at the break.
Two second period goals by Standley Grand-Pierre Sr. iced the match away for Bethel.
Bethel had a 27-8 advantage in shots and an 11-3 margin in shots on goal.
Horace Avila Jr. had two assists in the match.
Coach Malang Jarju said, “We are happy to finally get a match under our belts. I thought we played well for the most part. We will look at our film and learn from the mistakes we made.”
The Wildcats do not return to action again until Friday, September 5 when they travel to Columbia, Missouri. It will mark the first of five consecutive road games. Bethel does not return home until September 30 against conference foe Campbellsville.
