South Gibson Rallies Late to Edge Fillies

HUNTINGDON (March 26) — Huntingdon High School hosted South Gibson Thursday for a softball contest. The Fillies led early, but the Lady Hornets rallied late to take a 7-5 win.

Huntingdon struck first with two runs in the bottom of the second and added another pair in the third. South Gibson got on the board with a run in the top of the fourth, and the Fillies added one in the fifth. The Lady Hornets cut into the gap with two runs in the sixth, then took the lead with four in the seventh.

Huntingdon's Knox Bennett was 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base. Aubry Castleman was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Elli Wilson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Gracey Martin was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Camdyn Sellers was 0-for-2 with an RBI. Grier Bartholomew was 0-for-3 with an RBI.

Lady Hornet Hadley Turnbow was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Annie Whittemore was 3-for-5. Ashlyn Cannon was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Kynleigh Reece was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Keyleigh Puckett was 1-for-4 with a walk and two RBIs. Hattie Claire Simpson was 1-for-4 with two runs scored. Acie Allen was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Lydia Hall was 1-for-4. Leah Prescott was 0-for-2 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Lydia Hall earned the complete-game victory for South Gibson, allowing five earned runs on six hits while walking none and striking out two.

Marcie Mitchell took the complete-game loss for the Fillies, allowing seven runs (five earned) on 14 hits while walking two and striking out two.
