Rebels, Mustangs, Chargers Headed To TSSAA Football Championships

CHATTANOOGA — Three area high school football teams will compete for state championships this weekend in the TSSAA’s BlueCross Bowl. The McKenzie Rebels, Huntingdon Mustangs and Westview Chargers will face teams from east Tennessee at Finley Stadium.
The Class 1A title game between McKenzie and South Pittsburg is Friday, December 5 at 3 p.m. EST.
The Class 2A championship bout between Huntingdon and Marion County is Saturday, December 6 at 3 p.m. EST.
The Class 3A finale between Westview and Gatlinburg-Pittman is Friday, December 5 at 11 a.m. EST.
The 1A and 2A games each feature teams from Carroll County and Marion County.
McKenzie High School hosts a pep rally Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.
Huntingdon High School’s pep rally is 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, also in the school’s gym.
The community is invited to attend these rallies and cheer on their respective teams.
The Huntingdon Quarterback Club is gauging interest in a fan bus. Watch their Facebook page for updates and instructions.
McKenzie is not planning to facilitate a fan bus.
Tickets for the BlueCross Bowl are $13 per day if purchased in advance on GoFan during the presale period, $15 per day on GoFan after the presale period, or $20 per day if purchased with cash at the gate.
Teams will receive a percentage of the tickets presold for their school on GoFan as part of their revenue share. The Division I presale period is until Wednesday, December 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST. All teams, coaches and fans are subject to the stadium policies of Finley Stadium. The stadium has a clear bag policy that will be enforced. Only one clear plastic bag no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches or a one-gallon, transparent, resealable plastic storage bag per person will be permitted. Fans will also be allowed a small clutch purse not to exceed 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. No other bags will be allowed inside Finley Stadium. All items, including clear bags and clutch purses, are subject to search at the gates. Fans will be required to empty pockets and pass through metal detectors before entering the stadium.
The following items are strictly prohibited from entry:
-Anything that would obstruct another patron’s view or cause a disruption (noisemakers, selfie sticks, fireworks, speakers)
-Professional cameras with detachable lenses
-Pop-up tents and folding chairs
-Drones (Finley Stadium’s campus is a No-Fly Zone)
-Weapons of any kind
-Animals, except those performing a service
-Bags larger than 4.5” by 6.5”
-Outside food or drinks
-Stadium chairs with armrests/pockets
-Full umbrellas (collapsible umbrellas are acceptable)
-Radios without headphones or speakers/amplifiers
-Noisemakers: Finley Stadium will not allow any artificial noisemakers, including airhorns. They will allow items that make “manual noise”, which would include cowbells, blowhorns, rocks in jugs, etc.
-Any other item that Finley Stadium security personnel deem a public safety risk, public nuisance and/or otherwise negatively impacts the game or the spectator experience
-Tents are not allowed in the stands.
Weather delays will be determined by TSSAA personnel.
