Stewart County Sweeps McKenzie

McKENZIE (December 12) — McKenzie High School hosted Stewart County Friday for a pair of basketball games. The Stewart County Lady Rebels pulled away for a 44-34 win. The boys kept it close, but Stewart County pulled away with a last-minute, 66-61 win.

Stewart County Lady Rebels 44, McKenzie Lady Rebels 34
The Stewart County Lady Rebels ended the first quarter with a 15-8 lead. Faith Dacus scored eleven with a pair of three-point shots. Neely Cook and Jesslyn Dacus each had two points. McKenzie’s Jaycee Stafford had eight points.

Stewart County kept a close 22-19 lead at the end of the second quarter. Stewart County Lady Rebel Jaelyn Newman had four points. F. Dacus hit two free throw shots, and Neely Cook hit one free throw. Stafford scored six for McKenzie with a three. Molly French scored a three-point shot. Alleigh Britt had a pair.

The Stewart County Lady Rebels kept the lead with a 28-21 score after the third quarter. Stewart County’s Cook hit a three-point shot. Newman had a pair, and Kaylie Wallace hit a free throw shot. Stafford had a pair for McKenzie.

The Stewart County Lady Rebels secured the 44-34 win in the fourth, Newman with 12 points. J. Dacus and Wallace each had two free throws. Stafford scored nine for McKenzie with a three-point shot. Addyson Littleton and Braylin Auvenshine each had a pair.

Jaelyn Newman led the Stewart County Lady Rebels in scoring with 18 points, Faith Dacus scored 13 points, and Nelly Cook scored six points.

McKenzie’s Jaycee Stafford led all scorers with 25 points.

Stewart County Rebels 66, McKenzie Rebels 61
The McKenzie Rebels started the game with a first-quarter score of 15-6. Rebel Avery Brown scored five, including a three-point shot. Kason Brown scored four points. Nolan Fawcett hit a three-point shot, and Cole Brown also had three points. Stewart County Rebels Liam Kash, Anthony Bisogno and Kyrick Wallace each had a pair.

McKenzie extended their lead to 34-27 at halftime. Rebel Cole Brown scored eleven with a three-pointer. Fawcett had six on two three-point shots. Kason Brown had a pair. Stewart County Rebel Kash scored eight. Bisogno had five with a three-pointer. Dawson Collins and Hargis Cherry each hit a three-point shot. Wallace hit two free throw shots.

The Stewart County Rebels took the lead, 46-40, after the third quarter. Wallace scored seven with a three. Bisogno had five points. Cherry hit a three-pointer, along with Collins and Kash with a pair. Kason Brown had four for the McKenzie Rebels. Fawcett hit two free throw shots.

Stewart County extended the lead in the fourth for the 66-61 win. Stewart County Rebel Wallace scored ten, and Bisogno had five. Landon Green had three points, and Zachary Morgan had a pair. McKenzie Rebel Fawcett scored 13 with two three-point shots. Cole Brown had five. Kason Brown had a pair, and Avery Brown hit a free throw.

Nolan Fawcett led McKenzie with 24 points. Cole Brown scored 19 points. Kason Brown had 12 points.

Kyrick Wallace led Stewart County with 21 points, followed by Anthony Bisogno with 17 points and Liam Kash with 12 points.
