SUV, Semi-Truck Collision Results In Death

HOLLOW ROCK (August 26) — One person is dead following a collision of a SUV and a tractor-trailer truck on State Route 70 East near Hollow Rock on Tuesday, August 26 prior to noon.

According to a report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tammy Grim, 58, of Tennessee (no city listed), died when her 2001 Ford Explorer collided head-on with a Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by William Watson, 31, of Tennessee. Both vehicles came to rest in a slight ravine adjacent to the roadway.

A third semi-truck was also involved. It had a flatbed trailer loaded with large, heavy blocks of aluminum, some of which landed in the roadway.

The highway between Huntingdon and Hollow Rock was blocked for hours as emergency crews worked the scene. 

Emergency crews involved the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Baptist EMS, Huntingdon Police and Fire departments, Carroll County Hazmat, and Carroll County Fire Department.
