Sweet Tea Festival is This Week

West Tennessee’s annual Sweet Tea Festival returns to McKenzie’s Downtown Veterans Park August 22 and 23.

Festivities begin Thursday, August 21, with Carroll Arts’ Southern Fried Funnies. The “Classic Redneck Variety Show,” directed by Glynda Rich and Denise Sam, features sketches inspired by Hee-Haw, Carol Burnett and Ray Stevens. Catch some familiar faces acting in Southern Fried Funnies on August 21 at 7 p.m. and August 23 at 2 p.m. at McKenzie’s Park Theatre.

Craft and food vendors set up in downtown McKenzie on Friday, August 22 and opens at 6 p.m. and Saturday, August 23, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

City Recorder Jennifer Waldrup confirmed the festival will have a petting zoo and several carnival rides. Saturday evening, the Sweet Tea Festival will have a musical performance in front of the old Wrinkle Hardware building. Music begins 4 p.m. Saturday with a performance by the band “Sticks.”

While all spots for food vendors are full, there are still spaces for craft vendors. To apply for a craft booth, email madelyn.morris@cityofmckenzie.com.
